The 50 most influential women in foodservice

In the latest installment of its Power List series of reports, Nation’s Restaurant News celebrates the contributions of innovative and influential women in the foodservice industry.

Elsewhere, we addressed some of the challenges women face in terms of representation at all levels, despite recent gains. Men are in 62% of manager-level positions, while women hold just 38%, according to the 2019 “Women in the Workplace” report by McKinsey & Company. The report is based on information obtained from 329 companies from all business sectors, including restaurant and beverage companies.

Five restaurant companies are in the S&P 500 index, none of which have female CEOs. Of the 50 largest chains in the U.S., according to NRN Top 200 data, three are led by women as of March 2020. That’s down from five a year ago.

But while those challenges are real, we also had no trouble finding countless inspiring female leaders in all corners of the foodservice business.

Here is a list of 50 we think you should know.

Selected by the editors of Nation’s Restaurant News, these executives, chefs, technology experts, marketing gurus and bold thinkers are driving the foodservice industry forward.

The NRN Power List is the definitive list of restaurant leaders changing the industry. NRN’s annual look at the most influential women in foodservice comes at a time when leadership and innovation is needed above all else. These women will be leading the industry through change and recovery, and we are proud to showcase their efforts.
